Strong tremors shake west Afghanistan – 120 deaths reported

On Saturday, disaster relief organizations reported a death toll of 120, with more than 1000 injured in the wake of a 6.3 magnitude earthquake near Herat, a city in western Afghanistan.

The earthquake was followed by eight aftershocks and th center as reported to be 25 miles northwest of Herat, a major regional city in western Afghanistan with a population of more than half a million.
